Google announces Adiantum encryption for cheaper Android smartphones
Google has created a special encryption method for cheaper entry-level smartphones called Adiantum that would be an optional part of Android distributions going forward. According to the post, low budget Android smartphones do not come by the processing power that is needed to run - Advanced Encryption level (AES) - that is the level storage encryption Android uses. On cheaper Android devices, AES runs extremely slow, resulting in longer app-launch time, slowing of device and poor consumer experience.
