according to Facebook was sued in Fed court of law Tuesday for quietly scraping the dial and text information of account holders that used its Android smartphone apps, adding new litigation to the embattled social network's growing list of legal woes. "These information are then sent to Facebook and incorporated into the company's trove of user Data, that in turn are monetized for advertising purposes," the lawsuit alleges. "We are looking into these claims," a Facebook spokesperson told The Washington Times. The Ars Tehnica site premier reported over the weekend that Facebook surreptitiously gathered Android users' dial and text information with exploiting a vulnerability in the permission settings of older phones that allowed the social network to access users' entire contact lists. "Facebook never explicitly announce that the information was being collected," and that "there was never an explicit message requesting access to smartphone dial and SMS [text] data," Ars Technica reported.
