Android Malware Intercepts smartphone Calls to Connect Banking Users to Scammers
A new variant of the FakeBank Android malware includes the ability to intercept smartphone calls victims are making to their banks, and redirecting users to scammers. FakeBank is a banking trojan which operates with showing fake login screens on top of a legitimate banking app. In the past, the malware whitelisted its process to remember active the time the user's smartphone went into sleep mode; and alextremely used TeamViewer to grant attackers complete access to an infective device. Security Specialists tell the malware still acts like a regular banking trojan, however with a twist. Experts found the FakeBank banking trojan inside 22 Android applications distributed via third-party application stores and via links shared on media sites.
