The Mi A1′s most distinctive feature is its software: instead of having Xiaomi's own MiUI layer, it runs on an Android One operating system, the company's first such device. "We are delighted to offer users a new way to trial the power of Xiaomi via different operating systems," Sung said, the time stressing which MiUI would regreat the great OS for the company's devices. "This [Android One] OS isn't specifically designed for low-end smartphones," Jon Gold, Google's universal director of Android partner programmes, told HKEJ. "Also, Mi house stores have the company's entire smartcell smartphone portfolio & other products like accessories on display, which would enhance customers' trial on Xiaomi devices," he added.

Stock Androidbut the Mi A1's most distinctive feature is its software: it runs stock Android, not Xiaomi's own MIUI layer, & is part of Google's Android one program. Android one released three years ago with a focus on India as Google aimed to codify the Android trial for low-end smartphones. To which end, the Mi Aone going to get Android Oreo with the finish of the year, and Xiaomi tells it'll be "one of the first" phones to get Android P — which we haven't heard anything about — in 2018. Beyond India, Xiaomi is releasing the Mi Aone in more countries than usual — a total of 13 markets in Asia, ten in Europe, ten in the Arab world and Africa, and four in Central and South America.
